By Wang Wei (701 - 761 AD), translation by Sun Dayu.
As thou alight from thy horse,
I greet thee with a stoup of wine,
And ask thee whither thou wouldst tend.
Thy answer thou givest disheartened
Saying thou wouldst go to retire
As a recluse by the South Mount.
Go but thither without a query;
White clouds are there at all times.
