采采芣苢，薄言采之，采采芣苢，薄言有之。
We gather and gather the plantains;
Now we may gather them.

Now we have got them.
采采芣苢，薄言掇之，采采芣苢，薄言捋之。
We gather and gather the plantains;
Now we pluck the ears.

Now we rub out the seeds.
采采芣苢，薄言袺之，采采芣苢，薄言襭之。

Now we place the seeds in our skirts.

《芣苢》，三章，章四句。
註解
此詩詩意是反復吟唱：採芣苢呀採芣苢，採呀採芣苢，採芣苢收起來。詩意並不在語義的層面，而在於輕快的歌調。
芣(ㄈㄨˊ)苢(ㄧˇ)：植物名，即車前子。古人認為可以治婦女不育及難產。
薄言：薄、言，都是語氣詞。
有：採取。
掇(ㄉㄨㄛˊ)：拾取。
捋(ㄌㄨㄛ)：抹取。
袺(ㄐㄧㄝˊ)：手提衣襟兜取。
襭(ㄒㄧㄝˊ)：將衣襟別起兜取。
